OUR PROGRAMMES
Elderly Family & Youth Counselling – Obukadde Magezi
Strengthening families and generations through counselling, shared wisdom, companionship, cultural learning, and meaningful connections between older persons and young people.
Connecting Generations Through Wisdom
Older persons carry valuable knowledge, experiences, traditions, and life lessons that can enrich younger generations.
Through Obukadde Magezi, Zainah Elderly Initiative creates opportunities for older persons, families, youth, and children to connect, communicate, learn from one another, and strengthen the relationships that hold communities together.
Programme Overview
The Elderly Family & Youth Counselling – Obukadde Magezi Programme promotes stronger intergenerational relationships through counselling, dialogue, mentorship, storytelling, companionship, and cultural exchange.
ZEI brings older persons and younger generations together in safe and supportive spaces where experiences can be shared, family challenges discussed, and valuable knowledge passed from one generation to another.
The programme also provides psychosocial and family support aimed at reducing isolation, strengthening relationships, and helping older persons remain active and valued members of their families and communities.
Why This Programme Matters
Changes in family structures, migration, work demands, technology, and modern lifestyles can reduce interaction between older and younger generations.
As these connections weaken, older persons may experience loneliness and isolation while younger generations can lose opportunities to learn valuable cultural knowledge, traditions, experiences, and life skills.
Obukadde Magezi helps bridge this generational gap by creating meaningful opportunities for listening, learning, counselling, companionship, and mutual understanding.
